Alert! is a project of the Nautical Institute, sponsored by The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust.
There has been a continuing shift towards and emphasis of human element issues within the maritime industry. The Alert! bulletins are published three times a year and emphasize a different area of the human element in each issue. The bulletins (click on link for PDF versions of each below) are written in a non-technical manner and intended for a broad interdisciplinary cross-section of the maritime industry. Following many of the issues is a short video highlighting the elements discussed within that issue. Links to additional reading are located at the end of each bulletin. These link to longer and more in-depth articles located on the Alert! servers.

First of all I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick
question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing. I’ve had difficulty clearing my mind
in getting my thoughts out. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15
minutes are wasted just trying to figure out how to begin.
Any recommendations or hints? Thank you!
My blog posts frequently take a couple of days to write, depending on the research involved. I try to keep a list running of ideas for posts, as well as pertinent references for them. I would agree, however, that there is certainly wasted time getting rolling….
